A beautiful blue and white transferware plate from the Spode Blue Room Collection in the classic "Byron Groups" pattern. The center features a richly detailed floral bouquet, framed by an elaborate scrolling acanthus and shell border in deep cobalt blue on a crisp white ground, with a scalloped rim. An underglaze print taken from a hand engraved copper plate, reproducing a Spode design first introduced circa 1835.
Fully marked on the reverse, "The Spode Blue Room Collection, Byron Groups, Spode Made in England." A timeless piece for a gallery wall of blue and white, a styled hutch or plate rack, or traditional, chinoiserie, and grandmillennial table settings. A wonderful gift for collectors of Spode and English transferware.
Measures approximately 10⅜ inches in diameter. In very good to excellent condition — no scratches, chips, cracks, or discoloration; the cobalt transfer print is crisp and the white ground bright. There are a couple of very minor glaze bumps that can be felt more than seen in a spot or two — characteristic of transferware glazing, not chips or damage. Made in England.
