A wonderful matched pair of brass push-up candlesticks — the kind with the clever little side lever that slides up the column to eject the candle stub when it burns down. That "push-up" (ejector) mechanism is a hallmark of pre-electric candlestick design, and it makes these a genuine conversation piece as much as a light source. Slide the thumb-tab, up comes the candle — practical charm you just don't get from a modern taper holder.

Each stick pairs a tall, banded cylindrical column with a wide dished saucer base that catches every drip, all in warm golden brass with a lovely lived-in glow. A preloved, estate-sourced pair with plenty of romance and second life ahead. By their form and patina we place these in the antique English/Continental style; without a maker's mark we're dating them by eye as roughly late-19th to mid-20th century, so we're calling it an estimate rather than a guarantee.
